Hello my lovelies,
I just have a quick post for you today as I am in a hurry to get this card entered into the Flourishes Colors of Fall challenge...and then go down to do some craft shopping in the US...woohoo!

Here is the inspirational photo:

So, the challenge is to use one or more of this fall's "in" colours which are pictured above.  I used Emberglow, Nougat, and Coffee Liqueur.

Well, here it is:

This card was pretty straight forward...I used clear embossing powder on the main image which is from a Flourishes set called "Kids Play" and used the resist technique with SU! Crumb Cake ink...I used SU! Silver Glass Glitter on the mat...and I used the "Porcelain Bisque" technique with Crumb Cake ink, Whisper White cardstock, and the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder...all by SU!  You can see the tutorial for this technique here.  The sentiment is also from the Flourishes "Kids Play" set and it is stamped in SU! Soft Suede.

Thinking of You...

Hello Everybody!
Today, I have for you, a card that I made for the TGF Farm Fresh Fridays challenge - "You're Hot and You're Cold"...the challenge this week was to create a project with either a hot theme or a cold theme...I made a cold/autumn themed card and boy, does this image make me want to pull out my Uggs and slip those cozy things on!...well, that and the fact that my feet are freezing in my house today!  Vancouver had GORGEOUS weather these past few weeks and was in the 30's...Celsius of course!  That's high 80's-low 90's in Farenheit!  However, it clouded over yesterday and now it's about 15 degrees Celsius..that's about 59 degrees Farenheit...burrr!


Well, enough chit-chat, here it is:

I used three different TGF stamps on this card...Special Autumn, Blush Bonnie (sentiment), and I don't think it's very noticeable but, if you look closely, I used Blush Hello on the background paper with the blue grid...I wanted it to be subtle so I stamped it with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Old Paper which I also used to distress each piece of paper!  This card is pretty straight forward, I just distressed all of the edges using the CTMH Edge Distresser and then used my nails to distress them even more and curl up the edges, assembled the card base and background papers, coloured this cutie with Copics (see supply list below) and cut her out with my Tim Holtz by Tonic scissors and craft knife (for the inner parts), and popped her up with pop dots...added some pearls, a sentiment which I also stamped with Distress Ink in Old Paper and finally, a matching flower which I also inked with that same Distress Ink, and Voila, done!

Without further ado, here is my card for this week:

Well, let me tell you...this was a tough one for  me, this week!  I rarely buy any silver or gold (but, especially silver) cardmaking supplies and I was determined to use what I had..also, I was given this sweet image by Digi Darla to use so, I had to make it all come together nicely..So, I scrounged up what I had....silver glass glitter and this beautiful ribbon flower with a jewelled center which I thought would accent the glass glitter nicely...
I printed the digi onto Neenah cardstock and coloured it in with grey Copic markers...I then went over the wings, halo, harp, shoes, and waistband with Smooch Illuminate Top Coat to add some shimmery highlights.  Next, I cut out the image with Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 20, being careful to cut around the parts I wanted to go outside of the frame and then flipping those parts over the backside of the frame so as not to cut them off.  I used the Spellbinders die as a stencil and sponged the image with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Old Paper.  Next I cut out the next biggest Labels 20 on white cardstock and coated it with the SU! Glass Glitter in Silver.  From there it was quite easy.  I used a patterned paper from Crate Paper on the background, making sure to sponge the edges with the same Distress Ink then assembled the card.  If you would like to know the specifics on the supplies that I used, please look at the bottom of this post for a detailed Supply List.

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share the good news...I was just in my Blogger Dashboard looking over my, "Reading List", of blogs that I follow and noticed a post by Lilypad Cards and saw the photo of my card that I entered into one of their challenges!  I can't believe it but, I WON a sketch challenge that they had last month that was sponsored by one of my all-time favourite stamp companies, The Greeting Farm!  I am ECSTATIC!  I have never fully WON a blog challenge before (based on merit, not random.org)...although I have been a "runner up" a few times...Anyway, I am super excited and thought I'd share!  I think I won my choice of stamp from TGF and the more stamps that I can add to my growing TGF collection, the better!

DYSU #36 - Texture

Here is my creation for this week's challenge:

For this challenge, I was trying to work with what I had already...I didn't have much that was textured and I felt that I was sort of playing out the burlap, lol, so...I embossed and scored all of the papers and used textured cardstock for the card base.  I used SU! Crumb Cake and Soft Suede inks and rubbed it over the embossing and scoring to enhance the textured look.   I used this adorable image by the Love To Stamp - Little Darlings collection.  It is called, "Let's Do Lunch", and you can buy the rubber stamp here.  I coloured it with Copic Sketch markers and attached it over the other layers.  I then added twill ribbon, a wooden button, and twine to give more texture.


On another note, I'd also like to wish our team member, Peggy, all the best in her future as she just finished her last challenge with us as a DT member.  Peggy has been with DYSU since the beginning and we'll all miss here dearly and we are sad to see her go, but, I hope we'll continue to see her around blogland!

Hope your birthday is out of this world!

Hey all!  I have a card for you today that I created for my friend's son, Carter, who just turned 5 yesterday!  Last time I was at the local scrapbooking store..I found this adorable stamp set by Your Next Stamp and I knew it would be perfect for Carter's birthday card!  I used the Deconstructed Sketch No. 17 by the ever so talented Jen Shults and I think it turned out great!

A True Love Story Never Ends...

Here is a card that I created for my friend's wedding reception which is coming up this weekend...
I had a vision for this card and somehow, it ended up straying very far from my original idea...I am not completely sure how I feel about it...I THINK I'm happy with it...but, I hope that SHE likes it...

Here is my creation for this week:

This one actually came together quite quickly.  I had this adorable image from Copic Marker Scrapbooking and when I was looking through my patterned papers, I knew that this fabulous paper from October Afternoon would go perfectly with this image.  This card is  quite simple and I let the patterned paper take centre stage matting it with blue cardstock.  I coloured the image with Copic Markers then cut it out with Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 9 and used the next largest die to frame it with SU! Crushed Curry cardstock.  Finally, I stamped the sentiment right onto the patterned paper with SU! Not Quite Navy Classic Ink and added this wonderful yellow gingham ribbon as embellishment.

This week, I decided to make a birthday card for my father-in-law.  The image I used is called, "The Big One", from Stitchy Bear...both my father and father-in-law are big-time fishermen but, since it reminds me a bit of my FIL and my dad looks more like Jackie Chan than Walter Matthau, lol...I thought it seemed fitting to use it for my FIL.  The sentiments are from, "What a Catch", by Flourishes.  I added burlap and wooden buttons to enhance the rugged feel of the card and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Spoiled?!...Who, me???

Hello everyone...
Today is my birthday and I just thought I'd share what my man brought home for me today!  Nobody else is around to see and it's just too stunning to not share!

He got me this AMAZING floral arrangement (my photos do not do it justice) as well as a cute card and $500 to the best local spa!  Does this mean that I can't order all of those stamps that he said I could get for my birthday?...or the copics?....or those nesties?  Hahaha...I am too spoiled...


Anyway, we are off for a nice birthday dinner...hope you all are enjoying the summer sunshine!
