Sending Springtime Smiles!

I made this card to send a happy hello to a girlfriend who I haven't seen in a while...I love the colours and am very happy with how it turned out...
I got some new toys and got to try one of them out!  The Tim Holtz Vagabond by Sizzix.  I have mentioned before that I'm pretty new to cardmaking so this is my first embossing/die-cutting machine and I absolutely LOVE it!  My mom has a Cuttlebug and says sometimes she finds it hard to turn the crank and since I have a pretty bad case of tendonitis, I am really glad I got an electric machine.  Sometimes my tendonitis is so bad that it hurts to hold a Starbucks or even to hold down buttons..luckily, the button one holds down to operate the Vagabond doesn't require much pressure and it only takes a few seconds to run everything through so it doesn't agrivate my tendonitis at all...Plus, one can only use such a machine so much...unless they're making wedding invitations or something... :)

Earlier, when I published this post, I was in a hurry to get out the door but, wanted to make sure I had entered this card into the 9pm PST (12am EST) deadline for the CR84FN challenge since I knew I wouldn't be home in time.  So, I published this post without really finishing it...I have now added a Supply list at the bottom.  Thanks for looking and have a wonderful Easter long weekend!

So, here is my card:

Another Update:
I recently watched this bow-tying tutorial that Dana from Dana's Inspirations did and shared on her blog.  I'm not very good at tying bows and found this very helpful.  The bow on this card was my first attempt at this technique and I think it went well :)
I don't know if this is a common technique among card-makers but, I found it really useful (especially since I was using the non-polka-dot side of polka-dot ribbon) so, I thought I'd share...
Dana is absolutely AMAZING with COPICS and also has several other tutorials here.
Thanks, Dana, for the wonderful tutorials!

{Thank U}

I made this card to enter into several challenges...no particular recipient this time...this one is going in the vault for future use.  :)
Colour Q has an interesting colour combo this time around...I didn't have any patterned paper that would tie all of the colours in together so, I stamped the three colours on white card stock to get the same effect.  I'm pretty new to cardmaking so, this was my first time doing that...took me a few days of pre-meditating to actually use this combination but, I like how it turned out....

I used the sketch by Mojo Monday:

Unfortunately, I didn't blog and link up this card early enough to enter it into the ColourQ challenge as I had originally intended...I finished it in time but, was busy last night and thought I had until 8pm tonight to link it but, apparently, linking now closes at 12am Sunday for that challenge.  :(
It's a bummer since I didn't have an easy time trying to pull these colours together...oh well, there will be a new challenge this week!

Here is the colour swatch:

Update:
I am so flattered that I made, "The Cream in Our Coffee", this week at The Play Date Cafe!  It was a wonderful colour scheme and so easy to work with...I could make project after project with these colours. :)  Many thanks to the DT at The Play Date Cafe!

My brother-in-law is newly engaged and they are expecting a baby!  Very exciting and I wanted to make a card that was appropriate for both occasions rather than give them multiple cards..this is what I came up with!  Unfortunately, I forgot to take proper pics before I gave them the card...so, these pics I took with my iPhone will have to do... :(

This picture was taken before I added the sentiment.

I used the Play Date Cafe colour palette:

So...I have A LOT of catching up to do...I have been making cards but, haven't been posting them on my blog...I don't know how some people post so frequently..maybe it's just me but, it feels like it a lot of work just to create one post between taking the photos, uploading the photos and composing the actual blog post!  I hope it gets easier as I get more experienced at it..I'm sure I'm not the most efficient blogger, lol...

Anyway, I made this card for a good girlfriend of mine who I just hadn't seen or spoken to for way too long!
