DYSU #35 - Friendly Critters

Here is my creation for this week:

This one actually came together quite quickly.  I had this adorable image from Copic Marker Scrapbooking and when I was looking through my patterned papers, I knew that this fabulous paper from October Afternoon would go perfectly with this image.  This card is  quite simple and I let the patterned paper take centre stage matting it with blue cardstock.  I coloured the image with Copic Markers then cut it out with Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 9 and used the next largest die to frame it with SU! Crushed Curry cardstock.  Finally, I stamped the sentiment right onto the patterned paper with SU! Not Quite Navy Classic Ink and added this wonderful yellow gingham ribbon as embellishment.

I really hope you'll join in on the fun this week at DYSU!

Supplies:

DP: October Afternoon
Digital Image: Copic Marker Scrapbooking
Stamps: Flourishes - Bee My Honey (sentiment)
Ink: SU! - Not Quite Navy

Ribbon: Celebrations (Michael's)

This week, I decided to make a birthday card for my father-in-law.  The image I used is called, "The Big One", from Stitchy Bear...both my father and father-in-law are big-time fishermen but, since it reminds me a bit of my FIL and my dad looks more like Jackie Chan than Walter Matthau, lol...I thought it seemed fitting to use it for my FIL.  The sentiments are from, "What a Catch", by Flourishes.  I added burlap and wooden buttons to enhance the rugged feel of the card and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Here it is:

I really hope that you will come and join in on the fun over at DYSU this week!

Spoiled?!...Who, me???

Hello everyone...
Today is my birthday and I just thought I'd share what my man brought home for me today!  Nobody else is around to see and it's just too stunning to not share!

He got me this AMAZING floral arrangement (my photos do not do it justice) as well as a cute card and $500 to the best local spa!  Does this mean that I can't order all of those stamps that he said I could get for my birthday?...or the copics?....or those nesties?  Hahaha...I am too spoiled...

Anyway, we are off for a nice birthday dinner...hope you all are enjoying the summer sunshine!

Hugs,
Naomi

Here is what I came up with:

I had to use this cute Lambretta image with the Union Jack from Little Claire.  It's super cute but, I wasn't sure how I was going to tie it in with the, "Thank-you", theme...I really wanted a sentiment that said, "thanks for the lift", but, I didn't have one so I just used some generic thank-you stamps...I thought it would look cool if I used several different sentiments and stamped them on twill tape...they didn't really connect the image to the sentiment but, as it turns out, they really didn't need to....of course that, "thanks for the lift", sentiment would've been adorable if I had it but, I actually like the card just how it is...
I really hope you will join us this week at DYSU and show someone you care about just how thankful you are for all they do!

DYSU #32 - Emboss It

Hi Everyone!  I apologize for my short posts that have been few and far between...I have been SO busy since returning from my trip to Tokyo!  We have been keeping busy this summer and I hope you all are enjoying your summer as much as I have been enjoying mine!  Tomorrow, we leave for Vancouver Island...we are visiting a friend who lives south of Sooke, just south of Victoria...there are so many beautiful beaches, lakes, etc. around there and we will be enjoying all of it!  We might also spend a night or two camping on one of the beaches...should be fun!  My poor house is facing the most neglect...I still haven't caught up on all of the housework since being away for so long...and you know my man did only the bare minimal while I was away....Next week, we will be returning on Monday and then I have to visit my girlfriend and her growing clan on Tuesday...she just had her third child!  A gorgeous little girl named Gia...so, I know Monday I won't be getting much sleep as I will be making a card for the little one...Wednesday I have my dental cleaning..and Thursday, is my birthday....so....I can already tell that this coming week isn't going to be very productive!  I have a feeling my house is going to be suffering until summer is over...or at least until September hits!

Anyway, sorry for all of the rambling....without further ado, let's talk about what we're really here for....DYSU!

This week we want you to EMBOSS IT!  Whether you use an embossing folder to dry emboss, or you heat emboss with powder..we want you to show us what you've got!

Well, here is what I came up with:

I heat embossed with black on pink cardstock to create the frame.  I liked the modern graphic look of the patterned paper and thought it suited my cute image (Sassy Studio Designs - Magazine Margie)...then I decided that the image would look great uncoloured, paired with this paper.  I really like the orange and pinks in the DSP so, I drew from that as well...I hope you like it!

Now, it's your turn!  I hope you will join in on the fun over at DYSU....I can't wait to see what you will create!
