Believe in Miracles

So...this is a long story but, way back in October I went on a scrapbooking retreat with my mom and her friends.  There, I met a super sweet gal named Cathy who was fighting breast cancer.  She found a lump in her breast but, for whatever reason, her doctor wasn't too concerned about it so, 3 months passed before they got her into specialists to have more testing, etc.  It turned out to be malignant and not only that, but, a particularly fast growing type of cancer...so, they decided to do radiation therapy and chemo before doing a mastectomy (I think that's how it went..) instead of the usual treatment which is in the opposite order.
Recently I heard from Linda, who organized the retreat, that she had heard from Kathy.  Kathy's surgery had been a success and they had gotten all of the tumour out...However, the cancer has now come back but, only in one place...I still have faith that she can kick this but, apparently she is feeling discouraged.  She is SO young still (I believe only 41 when I met her in October) and has two little ones (2 and 4).  I made this card to send support and encouragement and I am also sending her a copy of Victoria Boutenko's Green for Life (about green smoothies and an alkaline diet) which I had been telling her about during the retreat.  I have never had to deal with something like this before so, I wasn't sure exactly what sentiment to use or how to go about it but, I really love how this turned out.
Well, without further ado, here it is:

I hope these photos suffice since my camera battery was dead after a camping trip over the weekend so, I used my iPhone 4 to take the pictures.  It was such a gorgeous day here in Vancouver so, I went out on my deck and did the photo shoot out there with the exception of the last photo.  I stamped a grass image on the oval with Versamark and used SU! Heat & Stick Powder to adhere Glitter Ritz transparent glitter and also used a glue pen to apply the same glitter to the flowers...it's hard to capture in a photo but, I felt that the last photo which I took inside in a softer light showed this better.

Please keep scrolling to see my inspiration for this card and a supply list below.

If you like the sentiment I used, it came from the stamp set "Believe" by Verve Stamps...there are many more beautiful sentiments in this set as well as some pretty flowers and flourishes.  The reason I'm mentioning this is because $10 from the sale of every Believe set is donated to Susan G Komen for the Cure.

I got the sketch from Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #13:

I got inspiration for the colour combo from CR84FN Challenge #30:

Naomi, This is a beautiful card and one I am sure Kathy will cherish. Though not breast cancer, I am a cancer survivor of 11 years. One of things that kept me going during the treatments were the cards and words of encouragement from friends and people I barely knew. The sentiment or how you go about it doesn't really matter. It's the fact that you are doing it that matters. I am visiting your blog through Outlawz and becoming a follower. Thank you for following my blog.
Hugs and Joy...Diane
