August Beautiful World Tour

Hello Everyone and welcome to the first Flourishes Beautiful World Tour!!! Those of you who have been following Flourishes for a while will know that the first Monday of the month used to be the Bring Back Beautiful Challenge. As we celebrate Flourishes' 5th Birthday, there have been some changes and one of those is our team! No longer are we a challenge team, instead we FOUR new members to the team - Sasha, Dina, Anne-Elise and Meredith - (WELCOME girls, we are excited to have you join us!!) and each month, travel the world with us and be inspired by talented girls from all parts of the globe!!! We are now represented by Australia, United States, Canada, Finland, England and Germany and each month one of the girls will be hosting the hop on the Flourishes blog, sharing a little about their creation and maybe even a little about their corner of the world!

So.....what does this mean for YOU?? Instead of being challenged to create and play along, all we ask is you do a little globetrotting and stamp our passports (leave us a comment) and you could WIN A FREE FLOURISHES STAMP SET!!!! Yes, you heard right, leave a comment and have the chance to win!! The catch is, you don't know which country is going to be this week's vacation spot (chosen blog) so leave a comment on each one by AUGUST 31st for your chance to win!!

If you've jetted in from Australia from Iwona's blog then you have arrived at the right destination. If you haven't, perhaps you'd like to start your journey back in Florida at the Flourishes Blog so you don't miss any of the inspiration along the way!!

This month, the hostess is Kathy in Australia and she asked that we create something inspired by a song!

Maybe it had something to do with the live reggae music I could hear from the park across the street from my place, but, I was inspired by the Bob Marley song, Three Little Birds (every little thing is gonna be alright).  It definitely isn't a Canadian song but, with the sun shining here in the Vancouver, Canada area, I was reminded of the carefree summers I had as a child.  Summer seemed endless back then, and I don't even know how many days we spent down at the lake, fishing off the wharf.

Here is what I created:
I used the Sweet Days of Summer stamp set by Flourishes stamping it in dark grey ink.  This set is FULL of beautiful silhouette images and  I just love this peaceful image of a little boy fishing at the lake.  The patterned papers are from the MME Lost & Found Two - Breeze 6x6 Paper Pad.  I stitched the two pieces together using my Janome Sew Mini.  The main image was cut out using Spellbinders Classic Ovals and the mat was cut out using Spellbinders Labels 18.  The die-cuts were sponged with Tim Holtz Distress ink in Tumbled Glass.  It was a bit too bright, so, I sponged over-top of that with Tim Holtz Distress ink in Old Paper which muted the colour a bit.  Finally, I embellished with a couple of vintage buttons and some twine.

Well, I hope you enjoyed your last stop at Beautiful British Columbia, Canada....now, it's time for you to head on back to the Flourishes Blog.

Happy Travels!

BBB24 - The Beauty of Winged Things

Hello everyone!
Well, it's been a while since I last posted and I'm glad to be back!

It's time for another Bring Back Beautiful Challenge over at Flourishes...this month, the theme is...

The Beauty of Winged Things! Birds, butterflies, even lady bugs -- let your
creativity flow on this challenge aimed at honouring those creatures with wings on your card or creation!
Link up your Bring Back Beautiful Challenge creations on the Flourishes Blog to enter.  If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB24.  You have until July 31st to enter!  As we unveil our challenge for next month, we'll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge!  Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog.  A big welcome to Geri who won last month's Flourishes challenge and joins us this month on the BBB Challenge team!

Anyway, here is what I came up with:
I used Flourishes' Sweet Days of Summer stamp set and stamped the main image using yellow ink.  The butterflies are a separate stamp from the same set.  I cut out the main image using Spellbinders Floral Ovals and sponged using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Pumice Stone.  I added some pearls to the die-cut and mounted it  over some beautiful patterned papers which had been embellished with a seam binding bow, a pearl, and a gorgeous Crystal Trinket Pin.  The sentiment, which is also from Sweet Days of Summer, was stamped in dark grey ink.

Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing all of your beautiful entries!

Please visit the other gals to and see what beautiful creations they came up with this month:

Fit for a Princess with TGF

Hello Everyone!
Just popping in with a quick card to share with you all...

First of all, I'd like to apologize for the photo quality.  As some of you have probably noticed, I haven't been blogging as much as usual.  I've been going through a breakup from a 7 year relationship and my life has been turned upside down!  It's DEFINITELY for the better but, my life has been CRAZY!  On May 7th, not only did I start school, I also found out that I was approved to move into the place I wanted on the 15th....well, with everything going on in my life, I didn't get into the place quite as soon as I had hoped and I just finished moving two days ago and have not yet found and unpacked my camera and photo tent...I still have SO much unpacking to do and I have a school assignment due tomorrow and two midterms next week...YIKES!

Anyway, I should get onto the card....
I used TGF's ADORABLE Princess No. 4.  I'm sure all of you have been in a pinch for a quick card at some time or another and I wanted to show you that you can create a cute quick card using TGF stamps and the Embossing Resist technique.  I don't know about you, but, it seems like half of the time I put into making a card is often spent on colouring the image and this is a great way to get around that!  I simply stamped the image with Versamark, heat embossed it, cut it out with Spellbinders Classic Ovals, and then sponged it with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Spun Sugar.

Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Stamping!
