BBB24 - The Beauty of Winged Things

Hello everyone!
Well, it's been a while since I last posted and I'm glad to be back!

It's time for another Bring Back Beautiful Challenge over at Flourishes...this month, the theme is...

The Beauty of Winged Things! Birds, butterflies, even lady bugs -- let your
creativity flow on this challenge aimed at honouring those creatures with wings on your card or creation!
Link up your Bring Back Beautiful Challenge creations on the Flourishes Blog to enter.  If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB24.  You have until July 31st to enter!  As we unveil our challenge for next month, we'll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge!  Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog.  A big welcome to Geri who won last month's Flourishes challenge and joins us this month on the BBB Challenge team!

Anyway, here is what I came up with:
I used Flourishes' Sweet Days of Summer stamp set and stamped the main image using yellow ink.  The butterflies are a separate stamp from the same set.  I cut out the main image using Spellbinders Floral Ovals and sponged using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Pumice Stone.  I added some pearls to the die-cut and mounted it  over some beautiful patterned papers which had been embellished with a seam binding bow, a pearl, and a gorgeous Crystal Trinket Pin.  The sentiment, which is also from Sweet Days of Summer, was stamped in dark grey ink.

Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing all of your beautiful entries!

Please visit the other gals to and see what beautiful creations they came up with this month:

Friendship Lightens Every Burden

If you are looking for my HUGE GIVEAWAY, please click HERE.

Hello everyone and Happy Monday!
The sun is shining here in the Vancouver area again so, I'm in a cheery mood today!

I decided to make a last minute card for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC155).  The theme this past week was "Fly Away With Me".  So, in other words, the girls at Flourishes wanted to see us use bird elements on our projects.

Here is what I came up with:

I used the Sweet Days of Summer stamp set from Flourishes with SU! Basic Gray Classic ink.  I LOVE the summery and carefree feel that this set evokes.  It makes me feel like a child again!  The patterned paper is from the MME Lost & Found 2 Sunshine 6x6 paper pad; How suitable!  I chose these papers because I felt that the golden yellows and soft blues symbolized sunshine and water two of the most important icons of both summer and childhood.  I finished this card off with some Natural Hemp Twine from CTMH and a Vintage Button in Lemon Tart from PTI.

I drew inspiration from Iwona Palamountain aka. Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Sketch #49:

Anyway, I hope you liked what you saw!  I'll be back again tomorrow with a challenge from Paper and Such!

Heavy Metal

Hello again!
To see my first post for today, please scroll down or go here.

I am back with another card.  This one was made for the Flourishes Heavy Metal Challenge.  This time, they want us to use something metal or metallic on our project.

This is my take:

For metallic accents, I used this gorgeous handmade paper that I bought at one of my LSS's...I think it's made in Thailand...but, it could be India...LOL...I don't know the name of the brand but, all of their papers are fabulous!

Well, I didn't stop there!  I also used an antique gold satin ribbon on the card and made a matching ribbon flower that I learned how to make in this tutorial.  It was my first attempt to make one of these flowers and I think it turned out pretty well!

As if that weren't enough, I then added SU! Glass Glitter in Champagne to the main image mat.

Ok, I'm going to retreat back to my craft room again and see if I can make a card for the Flourishes Name Game Challenge in time...we'll see, it's going to be tight since I have somewhere to be in an hour or two....eek!

Thank you SO much for stopping by!
